Recent Coaching Achievements

November 2006 - April 2007:- Head Coach of Oxford University Mens Lightweight Rowing Squad
I was contracted to coach both Blue boat and reserve boat for the 2007 boat race held at Henley on Thames, The challenge was to cram a 29 week programme into 13 weeks, teach the athletes to row, run a training camp over the Christmas and new year period, seat race and select the crews for the boat race. The campaign was a success and we won the race.

October 2005 - August 2006:- Coaching at Upper Thames Rowing Club
Qualified Mary-Ann Chalmers for the Scottish Commonwealth Squad. I was also selected to coach the women's light weight double and quad for the Commonwealth regatta held in Strathclyde Park August 2006.

October 2002 - June 2004:- Women’s Squad Head Coach for University of the West of England, Bristol
Directive to develop women's rowing to the highest competitive standard in order to compete and achieve rewards at major rowing events, which culminated with both senior and novice crews representing the University at Women's Henley Regatta 2004

August 2000 - May 2001:- Gap year – travelling and voluntary work in New Zealand
Travelled to New Zealand to visit family: whilst there, I was head hunted by a local high school to coach a rowing camp of 25 school rowers and prepare them for the North Island and New Zealand secondary schools championships. Gold and Silver medals were achieved for their efforts. During this same period, I volunteered my time and expertise as a Sports Therapist to five teams of men and women at the New Zealand Masters Hockey Championships (Gold achieved)

September 1995 - June 2000:- University of North London, Sports Science and Sports Therapy Degree
The Master's crews retained me in a professional capacity as rowing coach and Sports Science/Therapist – lecturing on biomechanics, physiological adaptation to exercise, nutritional requirements and the positive impact of exercise on mature athletes. This led to achieving Gold medals on several occasions at both home and International regattas.
